Seiha Karate congratulates the following competitors who performed kata at the "Best of the Best Brisbane Karate League" competition held at Wavell Heights on Sunday 20 October 2013.

Georgie Lawrence - gold
Oscar Rotili - gold
Hugo Malone - bronze
Calvin Tan - bronze
Jachimo Roberts - bronze
Stella DeLuca
Amber DeLuca
Ruben Spencer

The format was round robin so each participant performed 3-5 kata each, which meant that medals were extremely difficult to win.  Our dojo finished 6th out of 20 and with representation only in the kata events, this was a very good result.  Competition is a great way to test your training and develop confidence.  Congratulations to all our competitors for their outstanding efforts.

Further congratulations go to Maki Kamada who has recently returned from St Petersburg, Russia, after competing at the World Combat Games.  Maki narrowly lost in the elimination rounds 2-3 to a former world champion.  Only the champions of the 5 world regions plus the medalists from the World Championships qualify for the World Combat Games - so it is a best of the best tournament.  In the past 2 years, Maki has competed in Germany, Turkey, France, Indonesia, Colombia, Russia and all over Australia.  So I think she will be having a well earned rest this Christmas!

Best Regards
Sensei Robyn Choi
